A multi-part Alice in Wonderland Caterpillar art piece assembled from segments printed in several different PLA filament colors, creating a rich, layered aesthetic straight out of Wonderland. Printed on the CR-10S, each section was carefully color-matched and assembled into a display-ready collectible.
This piece reimagines the hookah-smoking Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland as a segmented, multi-color display collectible. Rather than painting a single-color print, each body segment was printed in its own PLA filament color on the CR-10S, letting the natural color of the filament do the work instead of relying on post-print painting for the base tones.
Color matching across segments was the real challenge here — getting the transitions between sections to read as one cohesive figure rather than a set of mismatched parts. Once printed, the sections were cleaned up and assembled into a single freestanding art piece, ready for display straight off the printer.
